CCP patrols several neighborhoods on Columbus' south side, including Merion Village, Hungarian Village, Shumacher Place and German Village.
The Merion/Southwood Civic Association applied for and received Community Development Block Grant monies through the federal government's Community Reinvestment Area program. Since safety and security ranked number one on the residents' list of neighborhood problems, community leaders contacted CCP to ask for our participation in a neighborhood patrol similar to those already established in other Columbus neighborhoods. Implemented in August of 1998, the Merion/Southwood patrol program utilizes one team working six nights per week (excepting Sundays) from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., again with invaluable assistance from the Columbus Division of Police.
This project is now funded by the City of Columbus through the Department of Safety, making it a permanent project for CCP.
The German Village area was added to our patrol service area in March, 2003.
