Patrollers reported an illegal tent set up on the mountain bike single track in the Scioto Lot at Berliner Park. Patrollers notified the grounds crew at the maintenance building. Columbus Recreation and Parks Department notified CPD Car T-2 of the situation. CPD Car T-2 asked Individual to move somewhere else. Individual said he would be gone in 30-60 minutes. Patrollers checked back later and the individual and his tent had left the scene.

10-07-23

Patrollers monitored two suspicious males who had emerged from a man-made footpath near the northeast corner of the Scioto Lot at Berliner Park. Patrollers advised that the males were walking between parked cars and appearing to look inside. Patrollers monitored the males as they moved north up the road and through the parking lots until they reached the CRPD maintenance building. Patrollers advised they were looking through garbage cans. A CRPD employee then approached the males and asked them not to scavenge while the park is busy and operational as it makes some patrons uncomfortable. CRPD staff cleared the scene and patrollers monitored the males until they were out of sight in the woods in the northeast corner of the park.

Call of the Month

Patroller received information about a missing juvenile from a Columbus Recreation and Parks staff member near fields 29 and 30 at Berliner Park. A Staff member informed the patroller that the juvenile’s grandmother was frantically searching for him. No descriptions on the juvenile or grandmother were given. Patroller made contact with another adult in the area and asked if they had seen any juveniles acting lost. The adult knew of a juvenile and grandmother. The patroller relayed the description of the juvenile and the grandmother searching for him to CRPD employees. Patrollers along with CRPD staff locate a juvenile matching the given description sitting inside one of the team dugouts. Patroller and CRPD staff approached the juvenile and asked if he were there with his grandmother. The juvenile confirmed he came with his grandmother. CRPD staff members and the patroller helped the juvenile locate his grandmother. Patroller asked a group of civilians if they had seen anyone matching the grandmother’s description and they confirmed she was with the CPD officer in Car 114. CRPD staff members took the juvenile to CPD Car 114, while the patroller informed a second CPD officer in the Scioto Lot that the child had been located.
