Patrollers were approached by two males in front of 136 Chittenden. The males advised they had been assaulted by a group of six males. The patrollers advised CPD of the situation via 645-4545. Before the arrival of police, the two males decided they did not want police assistance. The patrollers re-contacted CPD and cancelled the call. No further action could be taken.

1-09-21

Patrollers monitored an argument involving three individuals in the area of 14th and High. The patrollers were notified that one of the males may have a knife. All three individuals left in several directions. The patrollers monitored the male who possibly had a knife. The male left the patrol area without incident.

Patrollers reported an open door that appeared to be tampered with in front of 178 E. 11th Avenue. The patrollers contacted CPD via 645-4545. CPD Car K9-2 responded to the scene and searched the property. No one was located on the premises. No further action could be taken.

Patrollers reported a group of individuals carrying a couch into an alley in the area of 18th and Summit. The patrollers advised that said individuals were going to set the couch on fire, but were stopped when CPD Cars 9048 and S-23 drove through the area. The Columbus Fire Department responded to the scene and doused the couch in water so it could not be set on fire later in the evening. No further action was taken.

Patrollers reported a trash fire in the rear of 1722 N. High. The CPD Wagon was already on the scene and requested the patrollers stay in the area and wait for the Columbus Fire Department. The patrollers complied. CFD Engine 7 arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire.

1-14-21

Patrollers reported a wooden pallet on fire in the area of 15th & Indianola. Patrollers attempted to contact a resident in the area to see if they could use a water hose to extinguish the flames. The residents did not answer the door. The patrollers then contacted the Columbus Fire Department. CFD Engine 7 arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire.

Patrollers stood by while a belligerent male was being asked to leave private property in front of 224 E. 15th Avenue. The patrollers advised that after a brief conversation with friends advising him to leave, the male left area. No further action was needed.

1-16-21

Patrollers reported an auto accident involving two vehicles in the area of Fourth and Chittenden. One of the individuals involved in the accident had already contacted the Columbus Police Department. The patrollers also contacted CPD via 645-4545. The CPD dispatcher advised that due to Covid-19, only auto accidents with injuries are getting police response. The patrollers assisted the individuals in moving their vehicles out of the roadway. No further action could be taken.

1-22-21

Patrollers reported a female causing a disturbance in front of 2904 N. High. The patrollers advised that she was yelling at a group of individuals. The female threw a bottle at the group and then entered a business in the area. One of the individuals from the group contacted CPD and advised them of the situation. CPD Cars 41 and 43 responded to the scene. Responding officers spoke with all the individuals involved and diffused the situation. After the responding officers cleared the scene, the female once again began to make verbal threats at the group. The patrollers monitored the situation. Patrollers advised that all individuals involved left without any further incident. No further action was needed.

Patrollers were approached by a male in the area of Rodgers and Broad who advised that he had been physically assaulted. The male advised he did not want police involvement. A short time later, the male once again approached the patrollers and advised that he had changed his mind. The patrollers walked the male to the speak with CPD Cars 81 and 82, who were in the Columbus Fire Department parking lot in the area of Dakota and Broad. CPD Car 82 transported the male to Mount Carmel West.

Patrollers reported an argument between a male and a female in the area of Westpark and Broad. The patrollers advised that the male was keeping the female from leaving the area. The patrollers monitored the male and female as they moved throughout the area. The patrollers advised that the male and female ceased arguing. No further action was needed.

Call of the Month

Patrollers conducted a well-being check on a male in front of 959 W. Broad. The male advised the patrollers that he was fine and required no assistance. Later in the evening, the patrollers came across the male shivering while having trouble speaking coherently. The Columbus Fire Department was notified of the situation. CFD Medic 10 and CPD Car 88 responded to the scene. Medic 10 transported the male to Mount Carmel West Hospital.

1-30-21

Patrollers provided medical attention to a homeless man in the area of Green and Broad. The patrollers provided alcohol wipes and bandages. The male did not want any further medical attention.

The patrollers advised that the male was being asked to a leave a business after being involved in a physical altercation. The patrollers advised that the male entered another business and was seen knocking over trays. At that point he was asked to leave that business. The patrollers advised that the male entered another business at 631 S. High. While in that business, the male began to harass employees and merchants. The patrollers were approached by a merchant who advised that CPD had already been notified of the situation via 911. CPD Car K9-3 responded to the scene. After assessing the situation Car K9-3 told the patrollers that he wants the male to “walk it off”. Car K9-3 cleared the scene. A short time later, the patrollers advised the male was kicking and punching a COTA bus stop. The patrollers advised that no major damage occurred and that the male was leaving the patrol area. No further action was taken.
