Patrollers reported a fight in the area of 15th and Indianola. CPD was notified and CPD Cars 40 and 32 responded to the scene. One of the individuals involved in the fight was injured and required medical attention. Medic 7 responded to the scene and transported the individual to Grant Hospital.

Patrollers reported seeing an individual inside an abandoned structure at 499 Chapel. CPD was notified via 645-4545. CPD Cars 87 and 80 responded to the scene and entered the structure. The responding officers located two individuals inside the structure. Both individuals were cited for occupying an abandoned structure, and it was discovered that one of the individuals had active warrants.

Patrollers reported an individual who was a known criminal trespasser at 796 Sullivant. CPD was notified via 645-4545. CPD Car 81, 84, 85 and 157 responded to the scene. The individual was cited for criminal trespassing.

6-16-08

Patrollers were approached by a motorist in the area of Ryan and Sullivant, who advised the patrollers that he was threatened by a resident of 72 Brehl. CPD was notified via 645-4545 and CPD Car 191 responded to the scene. A menacing report was taken.

6-18-08

Patrollers reported a fight between two females in the area of Hawkes and Sullivant. The patrollers reported that one of the females may have a pair of scissors. CPD Car 8L2 was notified of the situation. Before the arrival of police, one of the females entered a residence on Sullivant, and the other female left the area eastbound. CPD Car 80 stopped the female who left the area at the intersection of Hawkes and Sullivant. Car 80 took an assault report.

6-20-08

Patrollers assisted CPD Car 194 as he checked the well-being of an individual in the area of Powell and Fremont. The individual had just been involved in a fight and displayed aggressive behavior. CPD Car 85, Medic 192 and Fire Rescue Unit 15 responded to the scene. Medical attention was given to the individual; however, the individual refused transport to the hospital.

Patrollers checked on the well-being of an individual lying in the middle of the street in the area of Hawkes and State. CPD was notified of the situation via 645-4545. CPD Car 82, S-8 and CFD Engine 10 responded to the scene. Car 82 escorted the individual to Alum Creek Drive.

Patrollers were approached by an individual, who requested medical attention after having been involved in a fight, in the area of Broad and Grubb. CPD was notified via 645-4545.Medic 2 responded to the scene and transported the individual to Mount Carmel Hospital.

6-30-08

Patrollers reported a suspicious vehicle with a damaged steering column in the rear of 280 Dakota. CPD Car 8L2 was notified. Car 8L2 ran a check on the vehicle’s license plate and reported that it was reported stolen. The patrollers cleared the scene having recovered a stolen vehicle.

Patrollers came across an individual who had just regained consciousness in front of 480 S. High. The individual advised the patrollers that he had been struck in the head several hours ago, and was unable to remember anything else. The Columbus Fire Department was notified, and Medic 2 responded to the scene. Medic 2 transported the individual to Grant Hospital.

6-24-08

Patrollers were approached by an individual, who advised that he was wanted by police, in the area of Bruck and Reeb. CPD was notified via 645-4545. CPD Car 135 responded to the scene and verified that the individual was wanted for violation of his parole. The individual was arrested for the outstanding warrant.

What do these mean?

The CCP Trail & Parks Safety Program patrols the Columbus Recreation and Parks’ multi-use trail along the Olentangy River, as well as several of the City’s parks. Patrollers are out on the trail on mountain bikes five days a week (weather permitting) in order to provide an added measure of safety to bikers, walkers, joggers, etc., and to assist with any problems trail users might experience, such as flat tires, injuries, etc. During the month of June, CCP patrollers provided 256 patrol hours on the trails and in the parks; year-to-date total: 646.0.
