8-08-14

Patrollers were in the area of 13th and High when they witnessed an auto accident involving two vehicles. CPD was notified of the situation. CPD Cars 9020, 41, 43, 44 and CPD walkie crew responded to the scene. OSU Car 8 and OSU K-9 responded to the scene. CPD Car 43 conducted a field sobriety test on one of the drivers. It was determined that he was operating the vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance. The male was placed under arrest. An accident report was taken.

Patrollers were approached by a male who requested medical attention in the area of 13th and Pearl. CPD was notified via 645-4545. Before the arrival of the medics, the male left the area. No further action was taken.

Patrollers were in front of 2730 Sullivant when they were approached by a female who advised that she had been physically assaulted. CPD was notified of the situation via 645-4545. The female advised that the male who had assaulted her was at a nearby residence. CPD Wagon 88 and CPD Car 191 responded to the scene. Responding officers determined that there was not enough evidence to make an arrest. No further action was taken.

Patrollers reported an auto accident in the area of Town and Davis. Patrollers advised that a male was seen running from the accident. CPD was notified of the situation. Mount Carmel security officers detained the male who was fleeing the scene of the accident. CPD Cars 84, 150, 83, 102 and S-8 responded to the scene. Columbus Fire Department Medics 10 and 5 responded to the scene. Responding officers issued a citation to the at-fault driver.

8-21-14

Patrollers were in the rear of 204 Central when they reported a suspicious vehicle. CPD Car 84 responded to the scene. It was determined that the vehicle was reported as stolen. Car 84 called for a tow truck. The owner of the vehicle arrived on the scene. CPD Car 9081 responded to the scene. The tow truck arrived, took the vehicle away, and the patrollers cleared the scene having recovered a stolen vehicle.

Patrollers reported a trash fire in the area of Cable and Glenwood. CPD was notified of the situation via 645-4545. Columbus Fire Department Engine 10 responded to the scene and extinguished the flames.

8-26-14

Patrollers monitored a suspicious male loitering in front of 1469 W. Broad. CPD was notified of the situation via 645-4545. CPD Cars 84, 81, 9082 and 83 responded to the scene. Car 81 approached the male and conducted a background check. No warrants were discovered. No further action was taken.

8-27-14

Call of the Month

Patrollers reported a suspicious female yelling and dancing around in the area of Sullivant and Yale. CPD was notified of the situation via 645-4545. The patrollers advised that the female took off her underwear and is now urinating in the street. The patrollers further advised that the female has lost consciousness. The Columbus Fire Department was notified of the situation. CPD Cars 84 and 9081 responded to the scene. After a search of her purse, responding officer found heroin. The female was placed under arrest at that time.

Patrollers reported a garage fire in the rear of 103 Innis. The Columbus Fire Department was notified of the situation. CFD Engine 14, Ladder 2, Ladder 22, and Engine 2. CFD Medic 25 responded to the scene. Responding CFD extinguished the fire.

Patrollers reported a suspicious individual looking inside an abandoned structure in the area of Washington and Hosack. CPD was notified of the situation via 645-4545. CPD Car 9131 responded to the scene and determined that the individual was there to do work on the property. No further action was taken.

8-22-14

Patrollers reported an auto accident involving two vehicles in the area of Parsons and Woodrow. The patrollers reported that one of the vehicles began to flee the scene. The patrollers flagged down CPD Car 132 who was passing through the area. Car 132 was notified. No further action was taken.

CPD Car 9022 arrived on the scene, ran a check on the vehicle’s license plate, and advised that the vehicle was legally registered. No further action was taken.

Patrollers reported a suspicious duffle bag that was thrown into a bush in front of 4360 Maize. CPD was notified of the situation via 911. The patrollers were approached by a male who witnessed the bag being thrown from a moving vehicle. CPD Wagon 188 responded and determined that the bag belonged to squatters in the area. No further action was taken.

Patrollers reported three suspicious vehicles listening to loud music in a parking lot in front of 3911 Dresden. CPD was notified of the situation via 645-4545. CPD Cars 185 and 182 responded to the scene. Responding officer talked with the individuals. No further action was taken.

What do these mean?

The CCP Downtown Trail & Parks Safety Program patrols North Bank Park, Genoa Park, Scioto Audubon, and the Scioto Mile. Patrollers are out in the parks on mountain bikes seven days a week in order to provide an added measure of safety to bikers, walkers, joggers, etc., and to assist with any problems the parks and connecting trails might experience, such as flat tires, injuries, etc. During the month of August, CCP patrollers provided 653.25 patrol hours in and around the parks.
