Patrollers conducted a well-being check on a male in front of 4 E. 13th Avenue. The patrollers reported that the male was responding, but appeared lethargic and could not open his eyes. CPD Cars 41 and R41 responded to the scene. Columbus Fire Department Medic 18 responded to the scene. Medic 18 transported the male to the Ohio State University Hospital.

10-13-11

Patrollers reported an argument involving a taxi driver, two males, and a female in the area of 11th and Summit. One of the males kicked the taxi, causing a large dent, and then left the area. At this point, the taxi driver requested a CPD officer respond to the scene. CPD was notified of the situation via 645-4545. Patrollers monitored the suspects as the taxi driver left the scene. A short time later, all parties involved convened in front of 130 E. 11th Avenue. CPD Cars R-32 and R2A responded to the scene. Responding officers took the patrollers’ contact information and advised them to clear the scene. The patrollers cleared the scene as requested.

Call of the Month

Patrollers were approached by a pedestrian in the area of 11th and Summit who advised of an auto accident in the area of 11th and Fourth. The patrollers investigated the situation and reported an auto accident involving three vehicles. At this time CPD was notified of the situation via 911. The patrollers reported the condition of the four individuals involved in the accident. The patrollers reported that one victim was lying in the roadway while another victim was trapped in the passenger seat of an overturned vehicle. CPD Cars CRT-5, CRT-2, R-42, 44, 9052, and 42 responded to the scene. Columbus Fire Department Medics 7 and 18 responded to the scene. Columbus Fire Department Engines 7, 16, XES2 and 113 responded to the scene. Responding CFD personnel freed the victim from the overturned vehicle. Medic 7 and Medic 18 transported victims to the Ohio State University hospital. Engine 17 and 18 cleaned the spilled oil and gasoline from the roadway. A tow truck was contacted to remove the disabled vehicles from the scene.

CPD Cars 9121 and 163 responded to the scene and talked with the individuals involved. No further action was taken.

10-20-11

Patrollers reported an altercation involving two males in the area of Dakota and Broad. The patrollers were advised by a merchant that one of the males involved was asked to leave his business. CPD Car 84 was already in the parking lot of the business. Car 84 diffused the situation and escorted the aggressive male to his residence. No further action was taken.

What do these mean?

The CCP Trail & Parks Safety Program patrols the Metro Parks Greenway trails along the Olentangy River, as well as the Alum Creek Trail. Patrollers are out on the trail on mountain bikes five days a week (weather permitting) in order to provide an added measure of safety to bikers, walkers, joggers, etc., and to assist with any problems trail users might experience, such as flat tires, injuries, etc. During the month of October, CCP patrollers provided 134.75 patrol hours on the trails.

Patrollers were approached by a bicyclist in Academy Park who advised of a suspicious vehicle in the area. The bicyclist advised that there was an unsupervised juvenile and dogs locked within the vehicle. The bicyclist further advised that the van left the area, but was concerned about the length of time the child and the dogs were left unattended. The bicyclist advised the patrollers of the license plate number of the vehicle and description. The patrollers advised CPD of the situation via 645-4545. Patrollers left their contact information with the CPD dispatchers. No further action could be taken.
