6-01-11

Patrollers were in the rear of 248 E. 11th Avenue when they reported hearing a female scream. The patrollers were standing next to a CPD officer who advised that a robbery had just occurred in the area. At that point the patrollers took no further action as CPD was in the area. Approximately one hour later, at the request of a CPD walkie crew officer, the patrollers filled out a witness report.

Patrollers reported a large fight involving several individuals in front of 190 E. 14th Avenue. CPD was notified via 645-4545. CPD Car 44 and 43 responded to the scene. Responding officers conducted several field interviews. No arrests were made. No injuries were reported. No further action was taken.

6-15-11

Patrollers were approached by a male in the area of 15th and Pearl who advised that he was just assaulted. CPD was notified of the situation via 645-4545. While awaiting the arrival of police and medics, the male pointed out a group of individuals who may have been responsible for the attack. CPD Cars 9040, 42, and 44 responded to the scene. Responding officers stopped the group of possible suspects and began conducting field interviews. The victim was brought over to the scene to see if he could positively identify the group. The victim could not confirm without doubt that they were responsible for the attack. Medic X-19 arrived on the scene. No charges were filed and the victim was taken back to his residence by CPD.

Patrollers were approached by a male complaining of chest discomfort in the area of Lane and High; CPD was notified via 645-4545. Columbus Fire Department Medic X-19 responded to the scene. Medic X-19 transported the individual to The Ohio State University Medical Center.

Call of the Month

Patrollers witnessed a theft in progress in the area of 11th and High; CPD was notified via 645-4545. The patrollers reported that the suspect was eastbound on 11th Avenue from High. The victim advised the patrollers that the suspect had stolen her wallet. CPD Cars S-64, 52, and 9050 responded to the scene. Responding officer apprehended the suspect in the area of 115 Chittenden. The victim was taken to positively identify the suspect. The patrollers provided witness reports to CPD Detectives in the area of 11th and High.

CPD Car 151 and 80 responded to the scene. The individual was awakened and a field sobriety test was conducted. The individual was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Patrollers awoke a sleeping male in Schiller Park. The male was advised that the park was closed. The male refused to leave the park. CPD was notified via 645-4545. Upon learning the police were on the way, the male changed his mind and left the park. CPD was re-contacted and cancelled. No further action was needed.

Patrollers reported a male experiencing a seizure in the area of Rich and High. CPD was notified of the situation via 911. Columbus Fire Department Medic 1, Engine 3 and EMS 11 responded to the scene. Responding units transported the male to the hospital.

What do these mean?

The CCP Trail & Parks Safety Program patrols the Metro Parks Greenway trails along the Olentangy River, as well as the Alum Creek Trail. Patrollers are out on the trail on mountain bikes five days a week (weather permitting) in order to provide an added measure of safety to bikers, walkers, joggers, etc., and to assist with any problems trail users might experience, such as flat tires, injuries, etc. During the month of June, CCP patrollers provided 189.75 patrol hours on the trails.
