Patrollers monitored a suspicious individual riding a bicycle throughout the area of Patterson and Neil, while yelling and screaming at the patrollers and pedestrians. CPD was notified of the situation via 645-4545. The patrollers witnessed the individual take a pot of flowers in front of business in the area of Kelso and High. CPD Car 170 responded to the scene and stopped the individual. The individual was taken back to the business. The individual was made to pay for the flowers. The individual complied and no further action was taken.

Patrollers reported a trash fire in the rear of 2801 N. High. The Columbus Fire Department was notified. CFD Engine 13 responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.

Call of the Month

Patrollers were approached by a female in front of 280 Brehl who advised that she had just been physically assaulted by her boyfriend. CPD was notified of the situation via 645-4545. Before the arrival of police, the patrollers advised that the male entered 1370 Sullivant. A short time later, the male was seen exiting 1370 Sullivant and walked to the rear of 280 Brehl. CPD Car 9082 arrived on scene. Car 9082 advised the male to leave the area, and the male complied. An assault report was taken.

Patrollers were approached by the driver of a vehicle in the area of Dakota and Broad who advised that he had just struck a fallen street sign. The sign punctured the vehicle’s gas tank. CPD was notified via 645-4545. CPD Car 84 arrived on scene, took an accident report, and assisted the owner in pushing the vehicle to his residence at 70 Dakota.

Patrollers reported an open garage on a residence at 750 S. Sixth. CPD was notified via 645-4545. CPD Cars S-65 and S-13 arrived on scene. CPD advised they will attempt to get in touch with the owner. No further action was taken.

9-17-10

Patrollers monitored three suspicious individuals looking into parked vehicles in the area of Bruck and Reinhard. The individuals left the area. Later in the evening, they spotted two of the individuals back in the patrol area looking inside parked vehicles. CPD Car 113 was notified and responded to the scene. Upon seeing Car 113, the individuals ran from the area. They were never re-located and no further action could be taken.

Patrollers reported a loose dog in front of 328 E. Whittier; Animal Control was notified, and Vehicle 281 responded to the scene. Animal Control located the owner of the dog and issued a citation for allowing the dog off a leash and for expired dog tags.

What do these mean?

The CCP Trail & Parks Safety Program patrols the Metro Parks Greenway trails along the Olentangy River, as well as the Alum Creek Trail. Patrollers are out on the trail on mountain bikes five days a week (weather permitting) in order to provide an added measure of safety to bikers, walkers, joggers, etc., and to assist with any problems trail users might experience, such as flat tires, injuries, etc. During the month of September, CCP patrollers provided 44 patrol hours on the trails.
