Patrollers reported a trash fire in the area of 14th and High. CPD Car 48 was notified. CPD Cars 41 and 9022 responded to the scene and extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher.

Call of the Month

Patrollers reported a mattress on fire in the area of 12th and Indianola. The Columbus Fire Department was notified via 645-4545. CPD Walkie Crew, and CFD Engine 7 responded to the scene. CPD Walkie Crew took two individuals into custody while Engine 7 extinguished the fire. CPD Cars S-64, Arson Unit, R-40, and 41 responded to the scene. CFD Vehicle BN3 responded to the scene. Cars R-40 and 41 transported the two males to the Franklin County Correctional Facility.

Patrollers were in the area of Fourth and Northwood when they heard a car accident north of their location. Upon further investigation, the patrollers reported that it was an auto accident involving four vehicles. CPD Car 43 was notified of the situation. CPD Cars 30 and 33 responded to the scene. Columbus Fire Department Medic 13 responded to the scene. Medic 13 treated one of the drivers at the scene. Responding officers took an accident report.

Patrollers reported a possibly intoxicated female in the area of Rich and Central. The patrollers determined that she was unfit to take care of herself and CPD Car 9082 was notified of the situation. CPD Cars 81, 9082, and 9081 responded to the scene. The patrollers contacted the Columbus Fire Department. CFD Engine 10 and Medic 10 responded to the scene. Medic 10 transported the female to Mount Carmel West Hospital.

What do these mean?

The CCP Trail & Parks Safety Program patrols the Metro Parks Greenway trails along the Olentangy River, as well as the Alum Creek Trail. Patrollers are out on the trail on mountain bikes five days a week (weather permitting) in order to provide an added measure of safety to bikers, walkers, joggers, etc., and to assist with any problems trail users might experience, such as flat tires, injuries, etc. During the month of October, CCP patrollers provided 129.0 patrol hours on the trails.
