10-21-08

Patrollers reported a suspicious vehicle with no license plates on W. Ninth Avenue. CPD Car 47 was notified of the situation. Car 47 ran a check on the vehicle’s license identification number and reported that the vehicle was not stolen. The vehicle was cited for failure to display license plates.

10-25-08

Patrollers reported an unresponsive individual in front of an address on E. Woodruff. The patrollers were able to stop a CPD officer who was passing through the area. The officer awoke the individual at which time the individual became belligerent and attempted to fight with the officer. CPD Wagon 48 responded to the scene, and the individual was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct. Wagon 48 transported the individual to the Franklin County Correctional Facility.

Patrollers reported a suspicious vehicle with unlocked doors and keys visible on the floor at 867 W. Town. CPD was notified of the situation via 645-4545. A CPD radio technician ran a check on the vehicle’s license plate and advised that the vehicle was reported stolen. CPD Car 82 responded to the scene and impounded the vehicle. The patrollers cleared the scene having recovered a stolen vehicle.

10-31-08

Patrollers reported two possibly intoxicated individuals in the area of Glenwood and Sullivant. The patrollers advised CPD Car 9081 of the situation. Car 9081 responded to the scene and talked with both individuals. Before leaving the area, Car 9081 advised the patrollers to monitor the individuals and let him know if they attempted to leave the area in a vehicle. A short time later, the individuals entered the vehicle and began leaving the area westbound on Sullivant. CPD Car 9081 was notified of the situation. CPD Cars 83 and 9081 stopped the vehicle in the area of Brehl and Sullivant. The driver of the vehicle was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.

10-31-08

Patrollers were approached by a several pedestrians in the area of Richardson and Broad, who advised the patrollers of a robbery that had just occurred at 42 S. Burgess. CPD was notified of the situation via 645-4545. CPD Car 198 located the suspect in the area of Terrace and Broad. The suspect was placed under arrest for robbery and transported to the Franklin County Correctional Facility by Car 198.

What do these mean?

The CCP Trail & Parks Safety Program patrols the Columbus Recreation and Parks’ multi-use trail along the Olentangy River, as well as several of the City’s parks. Patrollers are out on the trail on mountain bikes five days a week (weather permitting) in order to provide an added measure of safety to bikers, walkers, joggers, etc., and to assist with any problems trail users might experience, such as flat tires, injuries, etc. During the month of October, CCP patrollers provided 156.00 patrol hours on the trail and in the parks.
