Patrollers reported three injured individuals on the ground in the area of 15th and Indianola. The individuals advised that they had been assaulted by a another group of individuals. CPD was contacted via 645-4545. CPD Wagon 48 and CFD Medic 7 responded to the scene. The individuals refused medical attention. Wagon 48 escorted the individuals to a residence on 11th Avenue.

7-01-08

Patrollers reported a theft in progress from a business in the area of Dakota and Broad. CPD was notified of the situation via 645-4545. The patrollers monitored the individual as he fled out of the business and into the surrounding neighborhood. CPD Car 8L2 advised the patrollers that officers were responding to the area. CPD Cars 81, 8L2, 80 and the CPD helicopter responded to the scene. The individual was taken into custody and returned to the business to be identified by store employees. Patrollers located stolen merchandise and returned it to the business. The individual was positively identified and charged with shoplifting.

7-04-08

Patrollers were approached by an individual, who had been assaulted and wanted to file a police report, at 707 W. Broad. CPD Car 8L3 was notified. CPD Cars 8L3 and 80 responded to the scene. Car 80 took an assault report.

7-09-08

Patrollers reported a suspicious vehicle with a damaged steering column at 285 Highland. CPD was notified of the situation via 645-4545. A CPD radio technician ran a check on the vehicle’s license plate and reported that the license plate did not match the vehicle. A cruiser was dispatched to the area. CPD Car 193 and the owner of the vehicle arrived on scene. The vehicle was turned over to the rightful owner, and the patrollers cleared the scene having recovered a stolen vehicle.

7-15-08

Patrollers reported hearing an individual yelling for help in the area of Sullivant and Hawkes. Upon further investigation, an individual had fallen and hit his head causing him to become unconscious. The individual who was yelling for help was a bartender and had already contacted CPD. CFD Medic 10 responded to the scene, and transported the individual to Mount Carmel Hospital.

7-16-08

Patrollers reported an unresponsive individual at 2516 W. Broad. A pedestrian approached the patrollers and advised that the police had already been contacted. CPD Cars 196, R-100, Medic 17, and Engine 6 responded to the scene. The individual was transported to Mount Carmel Hospital by Medic 17.

7-16-08

Patrollers were approached by a female at 750 Sullivant, who advised the patrollers that her boyfriend had just punched her in the face. CPD was notified via 645-4545. CPD Car 8L2 responded to the scene. Neither the female nor the male wanted to press charges. Car 8L2 advised the male to leave the residence for the night. The male complied and no further action was taken.

7-18-08

Patrollers reported two suspicious individuals attempting to enter a structure via a window at 2407 W. Broad. CPD Car 8L2 was notified of the situation. CPD Cars 199, 177, 194, and 87 responded to the scene. One of the individuals was arrested for being in possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

7-24-08

Patrollers reported a suspicious individual loitering and yelling loudly in the area of Town and Grubb. CPD was contacted via 645-4545. CPD Cars 80 and 8L1 responded to the scene and talked with the individual. The individual became belligerent with responding officers and was arrested for disorderly conduct.

7-30-08

Patrollers checked on the well-being of an individual in the area of Broad and Interstate 315. The individual requested the services of Net Care. Net Care was contacted and notified of the situation. Net Care advised that they only pick up intoxicated individuals. CPD was contacted via 645-4545. CPD Car 80 responded to the scene and transported the individual to Mount Carmel Hospital.

7-31-08

Patrollers reported a loud argument between two males in the area of Scott and Jones. The patrollers reported that the argument had turned physical. CPD Cars 83, 87, 82, 85, 81, 109, and 84 responded to the scene. One of the males was issued a citation for being involved in a domestic dispute.

What do these mean?

The CCP Trail & Parks Safety Program patrols the Columbus Recreation and Parks’ multi-use trail along the Olentangy River, as well as several of the City’s parks. Patrollers are out on the trail on mountain bikes five days a week (weather permitting) in order to provide an added measure of safety to bikers, walkers, joggers, etc., and to assist with any problems trail users might experience, such as flat tires, injuries, etc. During the month of July, CCP patrollers provided 326 patrol hours on the trails and in the parks; year-to-date total: 972.0.
