BURGLARY SPECIAL

The patrollers and staff of Community Crime Patrol were pleased to participate in the"burglary special" project during OSU’s winter break, December 9-30, 2011, to help combat the historic rise in property crimes during school breaks. Patrollers logged 304.00 hours during this time period and aided CPD officers in following 3 suspicious individuals.

Patrollers reported a possibly intoxicated individual requesting assistance in front of 1866 N. High. The Columbus Fire Department was notified of the situation. Net Care responded to the scene and transported the individual to the Maryhaven facility. No further action was taken.

Westside

Call of the Month

Patrollers reported a male stealing alcoholic beverages from a business in the area of Cypress and Capital. CPD was notified of the situation via 645- 4545. CPD Car 80 responded to the area. The other CCP unit located a male matching the description sitting inside a vehicle in the area of Hawkes and State. CPD Car 84 responded to the scene, conducted a field interview on the individual and transported him back to the business. A positive identification could not be made by store employees.

Trail Safety

The CCP Trail & Parks Safety Program patrols the Metro Parks Greenway trails along the Olentangy River, as well as the Alum Creek Trail. Patrollers are out on the trail on mountain bikes five days a week (weather permitting) in order to provide an added measure of safety to bikers, walkers, joggers, etc., and to assist with any problems trail users might experience, such as flat tires, injuries, etc. During the month of December, CCP patrollers provided 32.50 patrol hours on the trails.
